Camera: Polaroid: Spectra SE

Location: Turku, Finland

My grandmother & father.

This is a very important mental image from my childhood. Whenever I think of my grand parents or Finland for that matter I find myself having a mental picture of this:

Me standing at the front door to the kitchen looking east, blinding early morning light, the intense smell of presidente coffee brewing, the rough sound of butter being spread across rye cracker bread, and Swedish being spoken across the table.

This is one of those shots where I was able to get exactly what I wanted.

this is a wonderful photograph. like a memory more than a snapshot. it's iconic in some ways. the lighting is beautiful and the texture of the polaroid's emulsion mutes the colours so nicely. painterly even. shots like this make me want to get a sprectra.

i'm so glad you were able to capture this moment. i mean you know it's there always in your mind, but now...now WE get to see it too :) and it's beautiful. the color palette, the story behind the shot, priceless. :love:

It's nice, I get to enjoy it whenever I want to as well. I've never really gotten to get to know my grandparents all that well. They are somewhat distant people. So it's nice to have these thoughts.... that is untill the polaroid fades! :)

I like it a lot.
it's like a memoir. I can almost feel the warmth of the room.
the light is beautiful and it's kind of real.
like something is happening in the moment.
